Road Ready Pilbara
What is this program and why?
Between 2020 and 2024, 34 people died and 196 were seriously injured in road crashes in the Pilbara. Many of these crashes involved speeding, not wearing seatbelts properly, or using a mobile phone while driving.
In 2025 new safety cameras started being used around Perth and the use of these cameras will now be expanded to regional areas, including the Pilbara.

What is this program and why?
From 2019 to 2023, 35 people died and 197 people were badly hurt in road crashes in the Pilbara. Many crashes were caused by speeding, not wearing seatbelts properly, or using a mobile phone while driving
In 2025 new safety cameras started being used around Perth and the use of these cameras will now be expanded to regional areas, including the Pilbara.
The WA Government wants everyone in our communities to know about the cameras so that drivers are more careful and don’t get fines.

About the Program
Group presentations are the most common delivery method for this program. Presentations will last between 30 and 60 minutes and will cover:
- How the cameras work and the process of identifying offences.
- Seat Belt offences
- Mobile phone offences
- Speeding offences
The presentation is also available in an on-line format for use by resource and mining companies and other organisations with larger numbers of staff who use our roads.
We will be incorporating delivery of the presentation as part of our extensive outreach program to ensure delivery across the Pilbara. Our outreach provides a regular presence to Newman, Jigalong, Tom Price, Marble Bar and Onslow.
The calendar shows our proposed schedule for delivery throughout the region.
